I've always preferred the solitude of flatland, I am very much an introvert and prefer being alone 99% of the time. Over the years, I've spent probably 80% of my practice time practicing in front of my house. A few times over the years I've managed to 'recruit' a neighbor or interested passerby into the sport, they always start out so enthusiastic but then almost always give up/move on to something else within a short time.
Out of the group of several guys who started out flatalnding with me, as far as I know, I'm the only one who kept riding after high school, most everyone else just moved on I guess. They were fairly dedicated to the sport for a good 3-4 years before stopping though.
Definitely the solitary aspect of flatland is one of its biggest positives for me. I really don't like human interaction much...
