Fix Creaking Coming from Back Wheel?
« on: August 29, 2015, 02:34:21 AM »
Hello,

Last night, halfway through some riding, my bike started creaking each time I pedaled.  I believe the sound is coming from somewhere near my rear wheel.  The sound does not occur when coasting or pedaling backwards.  I have always enjoyed how quiet riding on a free coaster is, so this is rather irritating.

My knowledge about bike maintenance and parts is quite limited.  I am riding a 2008 DK Signal that I have had for about 7 years.  Regrettably, I can almost assure you that I have not properly maintained it.  Any advice on how to troubleshoot this is greatly appreciated.

Apologies if this was posted in the wrong forum.

You might have loose spokes.

Thanks for the reply! May I ask how to check the chain?  Am I supposed to check for tension?

if it's still the original chain, it's probably worn, you might as well get a new chain.
