Mod for KGB Space fork brake
« on: April 26, 2015, 05:56:47 AM »
The cable routing for these brakes is really bad. I want to move the cable stops up, rotate them parallel to the fork leg (I'll drill and tap so I can use a removable frame mounted one)so the cable runs down the front of the fork and some kind of roller to turn the cable 90 degrees to anchor at the brake arm.  I'd like to use a roller guide of some sort, but I'm not finding anything in my searches.
If anyone recalls the ACS Doubler, there was a brass roller guide and that is similar to what I have in mind. I had thought about taking a dremel to a normal bearing and putting a ridge in the center, but this might cut through the bearing before the channel was deep enough to keep the cable on the bearing.
Does anyone know of a solution or a design alteration they'd like to suggest?
Thanks in advance!
~J

Probably better using a curved metal tube like you find on v-brakes.

Well, space is my concern.  I want the cable to take a sharp turn.
