In today's competitive market companies have to use the same big manufacturers to keep production costs down and that also helps them in the mainstream trend setting as well.

You still see many brands coming up with new ideas but it usually takes a long time for them to figure out a way to lower the production costs.

It's not competitive. There's no competition for ideas or designs, it's just image. It's almost entirely about image at this point. Which "crew' do you want to associate yourself with or what kind of brand identity do you want to conform to. The "industry" is a f*cking joke.
