TIM KNOLL'S SIGNATURE KETCH FRAME
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:41:00 PM »
Tim had some specific requests so Ketch hooked him up.
1st off, if you've ever seen him ride you'd know he does a lot of upside down stuff so they lowered the top tube both at the seat tube and the head tube.  This gives him better foot clearence when standing on the stem.
2nd, Ketch went with smaller diameter tubing to shave some weight.
3rd, the rear end is shorter than the regular Karma V3 frames
Next, Tim doesn't care for removable mounts so they hooked him up with stock welded ones
(the removable gyro tabs remained though)
The specs are 19.5"tt, 12.65" rear end, and weighs in at 4.71lbs!
I think it came out nice!  here's some spy pics...

75, 12.65 and the standover was lowered slightly.  i believe it was 7.25"  but don't quote me on that.  I'll inquire about it when i see mike this week.

be interesting to see how that chain stay gusset-come- almost wishbone thing holds up. looks like a lot of heat in that area.

Tim rides a lot of street and flat (thus his crazy style) so I'm sure we will see.  he's had it for almost 2 months now.  so far, so good.  the original shortys and lengthys (as well as the flatware frame) have a similar gusset thingy too.
note:  Adam Kerr, welder for Waterford/Standard from 93-96 does the custom Ketch frames.  I think he did pretty good on this one.  Thinking twin top tube for mine...

hey guys, i attached the blueprint if you're curious about the exact geometry. it's the stiffest frame i've ever owned. it has internal tt and dt gussets and the rear is solid. i love it, adam kerr did an amazing job and mike stotsky is really pulling through for me, i feel so honored.
