80's BMX Canadian rider Joel Davis R.I.P
« on: August 12, 2010, 12:30:18 AM »
Was just cruising through the old pedalbmx posts and came across this

http://www.westviewfuneralchapel.com/pages/obituaries/details.php?p=143

http://pbdba.lfpress.com/perl-bin/adsonline_donut.cgi?s_order_id=12018773&s_category=B200&s=printonly&d=classifieds&x=announcements&session=&sort_by=&rows_to_view=&s_status=

Very sad to read this. Joel was Canada's best flatlander in the late 80's. And it is a shame that this community has lost another. I know most will not know who Joel is but during his time he was an icon.

I believe this is  Joel riding at the NJ AFA event. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes! thats him! Some of his signature tricks, for 88 he was doing some pretty incredible stuff. He was under pressure there, i remember as i was there, this is where i interviewed him for my Zine. Joel had incredible talent and riding with him was so inspirational.

Kerry! I live pretty much in Delhi! I know some Zerbes that live in Delhi too, but I have never met you as I was only 2 years old in 88
small world, by chance, have you ever given a complete bike or bike parts to a young rider maybe 10-15 years ago? He lived in Delhi and his name is Rene Paquette, he's a very good friend of mine and always talks about a "sick rider" from Delhi that gave him parts.

Please let me know, good to hear from a 'local'! And again, sorry to hear about your friend Joel, I would've loved to meet the guy. Some sick riding for 1988, that's for damn sure!

Cheers
