Right Foot or Left Foot
« on: July 18, 2010, 11:42:18 PM »
Hey,

I'm very new to the game here so please bear with my newb questions.

When I forklide I'm on my left foot.  But for some reason I'm better at Dork Wheelies and Forward Steamrollers on my right foot.  I'm slowly catching up with my left foot trying to get both feet comfortable which would be ideal.

Just wondering if this a common thing or hinderance to further progress etc.  I'm going to try to learn both ways, seeing that I'm over all terrible on both.

Thaknks,

Matt

I wouldn't worry about it. For now just try tricks whichever side feels most comfortable. Later on you can go back and try them the other side. That's what works for me. It definitely helps a lot to learn tricks both ways, but i don't think it makes sense to work on them it at the same time. Why? Because you probably won't feel like it  ;D

And hey isn't that Havok?

word, I just rode with some local NYC guys today and they said the same thing.  I'm just going to keep doing them the way that is easiest for now.

Thanks.  I learn so much more from videos like the one above than from the pro vids  :P

I grew up surfing and skateboarding goofy footed so really when pumping, carving the skateboard or surfboard most use came from my back leg for all pivoting, drive, etc. so it's way easier for me to just use my left foot but I have been trying to practice with the right foot.

I've been trying switch foot peg wheelies lately....it's not going so smoothly lol.

How about we sing a song....

'right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot' - Family Guy :D

Anyway speaking of skateboarding back in the day I would always ride with my left foot on the top of the front deck, but EVERYONE else seems to do it with the right :s I felt so alone :D

Anyway back on subject learn both ways it can't kill ya! And might come handy :D

lol sure do!
I suggest just doing what feels comfortable at first. But then, go ahead and learn it both ways once you've got it dialed one way! I dont want to limit my riding so I'm stuck learning it both ways too....

Check this out, I kick a whiplash into steam with my left foot, but then i gotta switch to my right foot to coast it....then i switch back to my left foot so i can smoothie out LOL
