Oh man. That guy had a really good camera and his footage came out about as good/bad as my shots. What a great video though. I love how happy Shintaro was to win.

This has to be the best filmed and edited contest video I've ever seen.  Definitely up top in the list of best cinematography.
The following is the truth.  The preceeding is a lie.

I know I'm being picky here, but I really wish he'd brightened up and white balanced it. Maybe he wanted it that way though.

thanks for the great feedback guys, means a lot for my work!

and yes..froghammer, the footage was 2 stops underexposed but if you are unaware of the shooting conditions they are much different than that of photography(in respect to a fine line of course). for example, the lens system i use allows for a 1/2 stop loss with it on, then my lens is only open to a 1.8 and with the over hang i didnt know was there, this was the situation i was left with to shoot in. hdv also does not do a great job in low light situations especially with the lens system on. but all in all i was more than pleased with the outcome of shooting flatland in a 35mm "feel" and also with my shooting situation i was in. unfortunately no ISO for video =]. and as for the white balance, i set my K value in camera to my liking, but everything was done in post. no image in the final edit is stock out of the camera. i wanted to capture the contest mood in an artistic way rather than just a simple, here is what the contest looked like, edit. thanks for the feedback though! the redrock lens system is a whole different world of video, though this is how i wanted the footage to turn out, and i really like how it looks for the conditions of shooting i was in.

i appreciate how everyone has reacted to the edit though, makes the time and effort worth while =]!

All those thousands of dollars squandered away on camera gear and this is the end result? Money well spent Dan ^_^ Great stuff!

I know a little about video, but what I don't know could fill an encyclopedia.  ^_^ I really liked the first minute or so of the telephoto/shallow DOF stuff.
