look in the tricks section on global-flat. i would suggest starting with peg wheelies, fork glides, squeakers, and track stands.

Get back to us once you can do this.

Also, how old are you?  Where are you from?  Riding with someone who knows the basics will help a lot and keep you motivated.

Buy the DVD: Ground Rules, it's great and has many trick for beginners. You can also buy it directly from Matt Wilhelm.
I hope you enjoy your new bike, I heard a lot of good things about the Opsis. Now go ride...

i've ridden alone for over a year and the 'ground rules' dvd will take you step by step
thru any beginner trick you'd want to learn.  it's an integral part of my progression.

go to the 'rider hook up' section, cause you're not the only NYC rider.
someone will be willing to help you.
that's the best thing about this sport, everyone's willing to help everyone else.

I will be getting back into flatland in the next two months after a 12+ year hiatus.

What I would do if you're having trouble with the footjam tailwhips is:

Start with a regular endo, once you can balance the bike on the front wheel keeping the back wheel in the air for a good bit of time move onto front wheel hops. From there you can move to footjam tailwhips.

When executing a footjam tailwhip you should be moving at a slow comfortable pace.keeping your left foot on the left pedal bring your right leg over the frame to the left side and jam your foot/toes inbetwwen the fork and the front wheel jamming it causing you to go into an endo.As soon as you feel the back tire come off the ground you need to kick your frame out from under you with your left foot (still on the pedal).Keep your balance with your arms as the frame swings around. When the frame is close by grab it with your left foot on the toptube nearthe seatpost, put right foot on the right pedal and ride away!

From there you should try tailwhip front wheel hops....this is what helped me out when I started riding 20 years ago and it should help you too.
