No problems. Just skip every third hole on the hub.

yeah just what paradoxium says
if you skip every other third hole then you
will have an balance wheel that you can lace
as a 36 wheel.

it gets a bit more difficult for 32 and even more so
with an 24 spoke approach

i would only go down to an 36 as it is really difficult to
balance shioot out after that and you need to know what you
are doing in wheel building!

Hey, when you lace the 48 hole hub and skip every fourth hole to lace to a 36 hole rim, how do you determine spoke length.  Are you lacing 3 cross and just using the measurements from the hub and rim and making up the difference in spoke tension?

I looked this up on some non-bmx cycling forums and didn't come up with a straight answer/solution.  What have been your experiences?

BTW, I've laced hundreds of wheels over the years but don't really want to waste time experimenting with this if there's a consistent solution.  THanks.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how the spokes could all be the same length.

I would think radial would be the same and 3x would have 1/2 a mm or less difference which gets taken up in the nipple and rim anyway, so you can use one length for each pattern, but hey, I'm not a wheel builder, I have seen it done and it looks great and held up fine. Also, Alex's wheel came up great.
It seems to look ok with spare holes on a hub and look terrible with spare holes on a rim imo.

not ALL spokes have the same lenght because of the fact, that the khe geisha lite is higher on the one side. but on each side the same spoke lenght is used in the way paradoxium said

THERE IS SPOKE DIFFERENCE IN RADIAL AND
REGULAR CROSS IF YOU GO FROM 48 TO 36
BUT YEAH YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE CHARTS AGAIN
LIKE PEOPLE ARE SAYING.
