Alexis recovering from life-threatening crash
« on: November 06, 2008, 07:52:10 PM »
Ok, that sounds like the most lurid headline we had so far. But it´s a true story:

"One month ago, on october 9th, I went in the emergencies with a near fatal injury. On the night of wednesday 8, I was riding and had a brutal crash. I screwed up on a backward whiplash and took the bars (with bar ends, thanks !) sideways in the left part of the rib cage with no chance to limit the violence of the impact. I was on the floor for a few minutes, I lost my breath for just as long and didn’t quite catch it back normally after that. Being familiar with the sensations you get from having cracked ribs, I thought it was « just » that, assuming I would go home, rest and see a doctor and a radiologist the next day...

I was woken up during the night by breathing insuffiency, pain in the left shoulder and the sensation that some liquid was coming in and out of my rib cage at the impact spot (now much swollen) everytime I would move my left arm. Obviously this time something was wrong..." click here read the rest.

Get well soon bro.  That wait will be hard for you I am sure.

I will have to remember to be extra vigilant when I do my endless backwards whiplashes everywhere  ;D

Peace,

Erik

damn. Get well soon! Heal up for a bit and enjoy a bit of time off your feet. (I did this year, not by choice unfortunately).

I don't know the guy, but of course I too hope that the rest of his healing process will be fast and without complications or setbacks.

What happened to him somehow affirms my choice of

- always trying to ride somewhere with at least some passerbys
- not using material like the stock KHE Stylus Pegs. Those things are like cookie cutters.
