GOD NO! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!

This is definetly something not to pay attention to. If you wanna be radical in a bike go buy one and pratice like hell if you wanna be what? A clown? And ride a unicycle go to a circus couse that's were they've been riding those things for ages...

Ok, I was joking, but seriously, I've been seeing videos and stuff about those "bikes" for some time now, they actually do some cool stuff on top of those thingies but it's too limited to ever be considered a radical sport like flatland, maybe races or obstacle courses (i've seen it) but never like flatland.

A potentially stupid thought though.
Remind those riders who take out their cranks and pegs and sh*t? It's not far from becoming something close to that...

Hugo, go out and buy a DVD called 'Defect', then re-read your post and see if you want to change anything you've written.
Especially once you've seen the Japanese chick doing some sweet flatland unicycling.

And she doesn't look like a clown. ^_^

I'd throw up in a second couse there's no "one-wheeled-no-frame-flatland" thing.

Call it whatever you feel like but never flatland, it's like spitting in the face of people like us who try harder everyday to get something to work better than the day before.

Flatland is to use a thing as common as a bmx bike and turn it into a painters paiting, a sculptor's sculpture, a bathrooms toilet (lol) making it one with your own body, it's an artistic form of bmx riding like no other, it'll never have anything to be compared to, not even it's cousins (Dirt, Vert, Park, Street, etc.), it's a one of a kind radical sport that's so hardcore that even the X-Games commity denies it's radical nature.

Unicycling may be fun, may be nice to learn, but never ever will it be close to Flatland.

Small | Large

By watching that video I can also add to my previous statements something more.

Have you noticed how young she is? have you seen how older flatland girls are? Have you seen any flatland girl performing as good as that Japanese girl did on that unicycle? I haven't.

Sure, there are great female flatlanders out there and I'm sure some of them would even put to shame pro flatlanders but still, the idea I get is that unycling is far easier, not just because Im saying it, but you have nothing else than a pole connected to your arse so you have nothing else to unbalance the moving mass (like in flatland).

Whatever, unicycling is just a fancy word for "circus skill".

Ok,I came on here to post a video link of a guy doing some "flatland" like stuff, but the video that Hugo posted made the one I had like look like ,it`s not even worth posting.I only started this post because i was impressed that other sports look into ours for inspiration, and that`s a good thing.I think ours is a little harder cause bikes are a bit hevier and theres more to balance, more to worry about ;D.But those Unibike cats have skills in there own arena.Dont worry guys I wasnt planning on running out and buying a unicycle I just thought it was a cool post.(as opposed to the ,how do I replace my grips ?for the 50th time!)
Ride on!

I met uni riders a few times. They don't say, or even think, they practice flatland or BMX... They are happy with practicing unicycle. It's just an another sport, not better or worth, just another... However, I tried a unicycle once : I'm happy with two wheels, it's a death machine.

I look at it more like a serious of Street/Dirt tricks than flatland, it's a sport, and it ain't called flatland.

Back in the late '80s when rolling tricks were just becoming popular, lots of guys were putting together these things that were just a set of bars, forks, and a wheel w/ pegs.  No frame, so basically it was like a unicycle with bars instead of a seat.  Kinda fun, but they got old pretty quick...

EDIT:  Oh ****!  Just after posting this, I looked at the "UnBike" thread.  Looks like those things are still around.  Damn, I'm old/out of it
