Introducing the Subrosa “Body Snatcher” flatland frame. I’ve been working with Subrosa for over 2 years to bring this to fruition. I’ve ridden it now for a couple of weeks and it feels amazing! It’s incredibly strong and has lots of features. This is a prototype so specs are subject to change. I’d like to thank GL, Ryan Sher, and Ronnie B. for helping make this dream into reality! More info coming soon.

I ended up meeting some riders/legends the other day. It was amazing to see in person. I am totally mind blown! Flatland in Georgia is still alive and well.  B)

Nice! Glad to hear it went well

That's awesome that you're interested in getting into Flatlland! Being that you are 5 11" I would recommend a 19" - 20" top tube bike. I own a shop that offers several different options to build a bike with & have several frame choices. Feel Free to D.M. / P.M. @fltscty Here's a link with the Build Kits: https://flatsocietybmx.com/collections/bikes/products/colony-exon-flatland-bmx-bike-build-kit

yeah you have to go to >>> flatlandfuel.com <<< and pick one of the complete bikes. Either one of the Ares or the Colony apprentice. i am 6 foot and did just fine on a 19" dk complete bike around 15 years ago when I started

Hello and welcome to the forum
I assume your from the US. The selection of new flatland bikes you can buy is very limited. Colony and Ares are probably the one ones you can get a hold of.

When your searching for a used bike, you can find some good deals. Used flatland bikes will usually be custom builds and have many top end parts. Ask the seller about the parts/geometry. They should be able to describe it to you.

Be aware that many frames and forks are brakeless only, so you can't install brakes on them.

So I posted on the bmx reddit about this, and they told me about this forum and that I should ask you guys here! I was never particularly interested in bmx, but after finding out about flatland I was blown away, and instantly wanted to get into it. Problem is I don't have a bike! As well as having some niche concerns. Specifically:
  • Looking to ride flatland in particular
  • Am a girl + not very strong
  • Am 5'11" with long legs
  • I want front and back brakes
I know people tend to ride smaller bikes for flatland, but how small is too small for somebody my height? Is riding a bit "under size" that big a deal?

Since it's my first bike, I'm not trying to spend a ton on something ultra fancy, but I also imagine most people's first bikes aren't flatland bikes, so I don't know if entry level completes that are made for flat are even a thing. Your average craigslist bmx bikes certainly don't seem to have any of the hallmarks of flatland geometry I've been reading about like zero fork offset - but I imagine some might also be better than others? How could I maybe spot a bike that's "decent enough" for flatland among them?
Thanks a lot everybody and I hope you're all doing well
