Title: Your ultimate Pegs
Post by: Rompy on March 26, 2006, 03:25:09 AM
I am in the process of designing pegs right now that will be CNC machined.

You have probably seen my other post and poll for peg lenght. Now i would like to know everyones preferences for the grip and finish of a peg?

What would you really like in a peg?

What would be your ultimate peg?

What color would you like ?

thanks!  ^_^

1. To be light weight but still be strong.

2. It would come in 3/8" or 14mm, under 12.oz a pair, knurled surface, maybe some tiny holes to save weight, comfortable, made of Titanium

3. Just Titanuim but if you can paint them do it in black.

My idea and the trend i see in Japan is to have a half knurled peg so when you grab the peg with your hands its alot more confortable if its not all knurled.

Knurling would be only on the ends.

what do you think?

I voted for the last option but I really dont care about all those specs, they just gotta have lots of grip and light (as long as you can maintain durability)

KNURLED AT THE END
YOU HAVE TO HAVE SMOOTH AT THE END FOR PIVOTS
THATS VERY IMPORTANT BUT ALSO HAVE KNURLED
CLOSE ENOUGH FOR GRIPPING ALSO SO I GUESS AN
SMOOTH AT THE ENDS, GRIPS JUST BEFORE THAT AND
THEN SMOOTH INLAND FOR FURTHER PIVOTS
WELL THAT WOULD BE A THE PERFECT PEG.
IT WOULD ALSO HAVE TO BE LIGHT AND SMALL DIAMETER
NOT LIKE THE ONES GOOGLES SHOWED US
ARGHGHHHHHHHHHH

I WOULD ALSO SAY THE KNURLING WOULD HAVE TO BE
EASY ON THE HANDS FOR GRABBING THE PEGS TOO
SORRY MEANT TO PUT THAT IN ON TOP THERE.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

Looks like grip tape so far is favoured over knurling.

mild knurled is the best
i mean not deep and with edges
there are pegs out there that way
i like those
i got london embarkment and they hurt my
hands a little but not too bad
and the khe i have up front are good.

Yeah, thats why I don't like griptape pegs to much.

Thats why my idea was to not use grip tape because
1. it wears out and breaks off etc and need replacing.
2. it hurts the hands, its like putting sand paper to your hands!

So thats why i wanted to do a peg that only had half of it was knurled and i can do differenty intensities of knurling.

oh yeah now thats a peg  ^_^

Post by: craig on April 08, 2006, 01:45:09 AM
heya like i said it also depends on the type of knurling
as even knurling hurts hands as does sandpaper
grip tape and it has to be mild knurling
somehting that does not hurt hands or
very little

You have a point there and what im seeing is that there is a wide variety of preferences.  So maybe im going to have to make 3 or 4 different pegs!
