There's too much stuff to write about all at once, but in brief I started in 1988, rode vert and flat then gradually moved to flatland only. I am stuck in the early 90's in my flatland tricks but it's all good. I also collect 80's BMX/freestyle bikes and memorabilia these days, i like nostalgia. anyway, i started riding flatland again after a seventeen year break, which seems like a common deal around here on the boards. my wife and i practice at an abandoned basketball court a few blocks from our house. riding flat again has been constantly in my thoughts for many years, but going to voodoo purty much sealed the deal. . . ordered a couple bikes from FF a few days later and have been sore since.

actually i just got out of detox last month..
and right now i'm on day 2 of my self detox.. n i'm not that sick
the reason i'm motivated to quit now is cuz i wont have any money until the first of the month.. and i'm tired of needin somethin to feel right... if it werent for my neighbors, i wouldnt even have this habit... 95% of the time i get my dope with their money, cuz they give me like 100 bucks everyday til they run out of money to go score dope for em n i get free dope out of it.. so i told em what the deal is, n said i'll still get it for them, but they need to stop with the everyday sh*t, get a brick or somethin so i wont have to get it for ya every single day, n only like once a week
still waiting to get my unemployment check so i can buy a DK signal, i already told my dad when my money is coming and for him to make sure he watches me get on the computer and order the bike... he's all about me gettin back into riding again cuz he knows how passionate i used to be about it, n he's hoping that it'll give me an outlet to express myself instead of shootin up n noddin off on the couch in front of the tv all day

Hellow All .. I`am from Bulgaria. I love Flatland since 12 years ago, but I don`t have a opportunity to have a Flatland bike, in the old days (1996) it was very expensive for me and my family to buy flatland bike. But the time is changed. I decided to buy i bike - but it is very interesting for me what will think people around me ... my family , my friends ... my girlfriend ... Everyone didn`t agree with me, even my girlfrient told me she will not be with me if I buy a bike. Now ... I don`t have a girlfriend .. but I have a bike :) my dream to have a flatland bike is turned into reality. I am old guy ... 27 years .. but when I jump onto bike I feel like a child. I remember my dreams from time wnen I was a teenager. I don`t have much freetime to ride , because I work and I can ride only in the evening for one or two hours, it is dark and it is cold now (-5 degree) , sometimes is raining , sometimes is snowing , the spot is terrific , it is full with small stones and leaves and branches from the trees (the spot is in the park) , it is unequal it`s not flat it is on steps, there is no other riders I ride alone ... and so on and so on ....
There is many disadvantage for me to ride Flatland , but I don`t give up , it is challenge for me to learn flatland in this circumstance. I feel great when I learn a new trick, when I am on the edge .. one wrong step and I am on the ground :) My body feel amazing , my brain feel free. It is very stange feeling when I ride ... I forget about everything in this world , there is no problems , I feel freedom ... my brain is crystal purity :)

I rode from training wheels until high school when I moved from Southern California to a small town(McKinney) North of Dallas Texas. In California I raced a few times at the Orange YMCA, did plenty of dirt jumping but mainly rode street. The move to McKinney effectively killed my riding because of the lack of street spots and no real scene to speak of (other than Joe and his sick dirt track). I moved to San Marcos, an hour South of Austin in 2000 and got back on the bike for that year as I discovered I could get around town faster on my bike than in my car. Another long break and I finally bought myself a flatland specific bike this year.
I was first exposed to flatland in person at Woodward and it has been my riding focus from that time on, however my bomb proof almost 40 lb S&M Dirtbike proved very difficult for me to balance on. Years nothing but drinking beer and playing disc golf haven't helped my fitness and I feel like I'm starting from scratch.

Well I have two eyes, but I can only see out of one eye. About 15 years ago a nail ricocheted off another nail and went into my eye. I had surgery, but lost all the sight in it. I'm new to this flatland stuff, but have raced BMX for a few years. My best friend, EvilLincoln, got me into this flatland so I'm gonna give it a try.

It is one piece. The shell and the 9t cog are machined from the same piece of 2.00" 7068 barstock. I was riding direct drive for a while when I first built up the bike a few years ago.

I live in Manhattan (NYC) pretty close to St. Vartan and Tomkins which is dope. I've been riding street for a year or two but I've always wanted to get seriously into flatland. Just bought an A-Damn LT from FlatlandFuel and it's coming next week.
I don't have any where near enough tools or "know how" to properly put this bike together myself. Flatlandfuel recommended Dah Shop for the assembly. I know a couple guys that way, but it's all the way downtown for me. Would Metro Bikes be able to handle the assembly or would they screw something up because it's kind a bmx/flatland speciality bike?
If there are any flatland nubs like me who want to ride in Manhattan, once my bike is up and running I plan on riding as much as I can.

I'm Justin living in Fort Lauderdale, FL I'm 37 and today is the first time riding since 1989.
I got my first set of pegs and a rotor in 1984 rode summers in Maine for 4-5 years then I got caught up in girls and High School sports, then College, then work, then baby, now I'm back on the steed. I just sessioned on my new bike and it felt awesome! I didn't land much but came close. Relearning tailwhips, boomerangs, glides and squeakers.
I'll be riding in Ft. Laud behind Barnes and Noble and Sports Authority. There's a little shade back there. I pop the hatch on my VW and kick old school DMC, Beasties, LL and some new school drum and bass.
Come hang and ride if your near by.

Do yourself a favor; buy some plastic pedals. They last way longer than you may think, save a good bit of weight, aren't as deadly as metal pedals, and are pretty cheap.

Im 33, I tried to ride flatland as a kid but pretty much gave up 20" bikes once I turned 16. Just in the past 3-4 years Ive been collecting vintage BMX bikes and have rediscovered my love for flatland. Im amazed at the level of tricks that even no-name kids are pulling these days. Unreal. While I'll never be able to compete with that, I think Im about to build a new-school ride. STUFF IS PRICEY these days!
As a kid I rode an 85 Diamondback Hot Streak. Ive recently aquired a few of those as well as some other things, including my favorite bike from that era: an 85 GT Pro Performer. Yeah, I was way into Martin Aparijo bitd. Those bouncy tricks are just plain funny now, even though I still cant do much of what they did in the 80s!
Now, watching Kevin Jones videos makes me wanna climb back on and attempt to get rad.

Booo. But now I'm back, and even though I've been intrigued by flatland all along, now I am seriously getting into it. Picked up a KHE A-damn about 4 days ago, and I'm starting to get back in the groove. My shins are starting to remember how BMX works lol. My flatland expertise has been limited to these past 4 days, but I got fork glides down, tailwhips sometimes, and trackstands all day long. Just starting riding flat again and a lot has changed since the last time a sat on a flatland bike. When i was 17 i tried to figure out tricks by looking at VHS tapes and reading RideBMX. So for me it's a very welcome change to be able to check out how-to's on Utube and get tricktips on Flatland forums.

First discovered Flatland at a bikeshow in Toronto and never looked back. I never became an amazing rider, but good enough... I just rode for fun. As I got older my riding time was replaced by work. After a few years of no riding I decided to buy myself a new bike and start all over. Flatland is always with us and hard to let go.

Dennis McCoy was the man back than when we started moving over to rolling tricks which was the beginning of a new era in case you didn't know. :)
This is just an expensive hobby and I finally am able to buy any part there is out there so I just wanted to get started just for fun on a custom bike I am building right now.

sweet! sounds like a nice thing you've got going with your son there. did you update it or freshen it up for him? you may need some Ti parts to get the weight down a bit :D
Nothing yet as the guy I bought it from did a nice job building it up from just the frame and forks conditions he aquired it in. Yea I forgot how damn heavy these are! When the previous owner received it the frame dropouts had been machined to accommodate 14 mm axles. My original ep of course had 3/8 axles. I’m a lot bigger than I was when I stopped riding several years ago so at least when I do ride my sons bike I don’t feel like I’m gonna break the axles lol.
