Title: shoes and pegs.....
Post by: ckcheong on December 20, 2011, 08:15:44 AM
i got my last vans half club for almost 3 years....and my flatland skills were not improving at all during this period
yesterday i got my brand new vans half club and found that the grip is so strong...
I have changed every part of the bike, none of them has as much inspire than changing a pair of new shoes....
so thats the question, what are the best shoes and pegs in flatland?
p.s. i am from hong kong, sorry for bad grammar

Tree Balsa pegs are awesome. As for shoes, I love my Nike Delta Force High Tops.

tree pegs grip soooo good as long as they're not the white (only color that was painted instead of anodized)

vulcanised soles tend to be quite strong. if you don't have brakes but have odyssey frequency g tires or similar thread tires such as the comet or contour, then they last a long time

super stoked on Huck Ind. Pegs on the front! (too grippy for the rear end)
also been loving the feeling of Ipath Grasshopper for shoes.  Highly recommended. I have the raw hemp ones and have been working on backwheel stuff lately and ride a hitman silencer, so the dropouts are not too foot/shoe friendly and the shoes have held up really well so far!

I can rip through a sole in a month or two without a brake!
Any recommendations for super heavy duty soles. I have Nike trainers and some etnies arron ross ones I have yet to use. I can't seem to find anything that can last.

I use Orchids or Lotek. Running KHE Alchemy pegs and the Lotek Mikes I have works best with them.

Sorry to bump an old topic.
I'm still burning through soles.
Has anyone tried the Etnies brake shoes?

Definitely Nikes in combination with plastic Alchemypegs+griptape. Even when the surface is a little moist you still maintain grip.

These are my Nike. It's from braking rather than from the pegs.

Hey bro i forgot to put this up earlier but after the orchids i thought i'd give Lotek's a crack and these are the most comfortable shoes i have ever put on my feet

The shoe is made from a quiet stretchy material and they are on super sale (i now own 6 pairs :P )

I have been using one pair for 3 months now and prolly haven't even gone half through the sole

Vans vulcanized soles are the best for me, best grip. I have a pair of OTW Alomar that has been lasting for the past 5 month, riding average 10 hours a week. Shoes usually last 4 to 6 month for me.

Glad to hear they have improved. haha ! In fact the have a wide range of shoes, and at the time some were not meant to be used for hardcore skateboarding, just 'lifestyle' styles. I'm not sure what they're doing now, i saw some of their style but they're not as popular as they used to be, not in Europe anyway. Wich doens't mean they're bad.

Just want to thank Mellon for the Lotek recommendation.
They are phenomenally comfortable, the soles never ever slip whilst scuffing, and they seem to be lasting well where I brake too!
Ordered a second pair whilst they are on sale.

E's accel.  Been wearing this model since the late nineties.  I have had quite a few color combinations over the years, and I would have to say the natural gum color sole has the best grip.

I'm hooked on Loteks.

Something about a "swoosh" I'd rather not have on my shoes. That's for AirJordan or whatever they're called.

The Loteks are amazing. You forget you're wearing them! I've starting wearing them at the gym rather than my air max.
