Title: Retro Old School/New School Full Build
Post by: Jodanimal on August 15, 2011, 08:18:12 AM
hey guys, I have decided to do a new build. Basically Im taking an old school frame with all new parts. The frame I am using is an 86 General Hustler, Not very popular but in the day it was a great flat bike, obviously there is some sentimental/nostalgic feelings with this build. It was what I first started riding flat when I was A kid. My question is, when doing something like this, what problems will I might run into. Also any advice or suggestions on what parts to use would be greatly appreciated! anything helps!! Thanks!!

The biggest problem is the 1" headset, but that conversion has already been done, hit the search button for that.

If you want to use a modern fork, stem combo on an old frame...basically, 1 inch head tube with 1 1/8th forks, you can use this method.  http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=28925.0 (http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=28925.0)

Those adapters use a 1 1/8 stem to 1 inch fork.  Just depends on what forks you want to use.  I suggest modern forks...
