Title: how many people has this happened to? (hollowflat sprocket)
Post by: AddisonM on August 23, 2010, 11:33:47 PM
I just snapped my sprocket clean off and was wondering if it's happened to anyone else. I've seen some cracked and bent ones on here but this was a clean break all the way around. Its been in use for 2 years (minus winters) and I was mid 1 footed manual when it happened... and I ate a big pile of concrete.

is that the SM crank only sprocket?
how many teeth?

i've ran a 16t ringo for a while.
it seems pretty stiff.

the design looks weak, honestly. how did you break it by rolling one footed with the crank immobilized?

I had done several 180's right before, and as I came down from the manual (with the crank arm forward) it slammed and gave way. Fixed gear cogs work for hollowflat cranks?

just be sure you dont put any weight when u start to  pedal... sometimes when u are in the urge of  finishing some trick you forget this , thats when mine exploded.

i do that all the time.
it was one of the reason to get such a small sprocket.

I use a  16 T steel Trial sprocket. That works fine. It has a 10 mm skrew area. Better than the tiny ST Martin. I broke 2 St Martin in one day.
