Title: The end of KGB
Post by: Mr News Bot on October 11, 2009, 02:23:00 PM
Martti just made a post in the Ground Tactics forum about the end of KGB. Martti and Viki will go seperate ways in the future. According to Marttis post it was a business decision and "this all is happening in good terms and we will remain as good friends".

Sad news for flatland but nevertheless respect to Martti and Viki for bringing us innovative products and ideas in the last couple of years! Letīs see how the KGB story is going to continue ..

Sorry to hear KGB is ending. I remember when they first came out there was some incredible buzz around all of their products and they made some truly badass parts. Good luck to Martti and Viki!

So lets get this understood ... it was "KGB - Kuoppa Gomez Bikes" ......

Martti has left KGB so it will become "GB - Gomez ByHimself"

Martti will continue on with "Ground Tactics - AKA GT".

Am I the only one who see's a sense of humor / irony in this?
I really hope the next frame to come out from GB is called the Benidorm.

Honestly speaking i might not be using KGB frames or even a 100% KGB supporter last few years, but since i started my own research of Flatland skills from some KGB videos from 2005 to 2007 i feel both of them are also consider as Flatland skill successor. I manage to see the difference of their Flatland styles and concept.

Both of them are incredible in Flatland -_- -_- -_-

Respected riders.

My respect? My respect is because an announcement was made so that people wouldn't be trying to figure out what happened after the fact. But I'm sad because now I'll have to look for different pegs when my Control pegs die.

my best wishes go to both of them.
it is sad to hear that a company that was so dedicated to our sport has
decided to stop.   I am a big fan of what they do , and have done in
building no nonsence parts for us - and riding - and even their promotion
was all top notch stuff.       I can only hope that one day they will decide
that making parts again is a good idea.

This isn't neccessarily a bad thing.  I mean look at the web edits Marti is putting out now!  He obviously is RIDING ALOT!  Probably enjoying the freedom of being able to ride and not worry about business stuff so much!  Plus, while KGB has made some serious innovations they have had quality control issues over the years.

So I'm choosing to look at this as Marti and Viki coming back strong than ever as RIDERS!  That I'm Stoked on!

I'm not really sad actually, I think pro riders themselves should not have brands, let that to the pros.

Nevertheless they ended up releasing at least two of the most popular frames in the last 5 years i believe, Psychonnecta and Psychopower (or any of the suceeding facelifts).

TIP: Sign the next frame from some renowned brand, make the right choices and it'll sell.. ALOT.

PS: Inertia Bikes's site is also offline, what happenned?

Title: Viki about the future of KGB
Post by: Mr News Bot on October 12, 2009, 03:16:26 PM
Since many have been wondering what´s going to happen with KGB and their products Viki is here to clarify a few things:

"As Martti said it s a business decision. Like in F1 someone has to go to Ferrari and other one has to go to McLaren. But, KGB products will be still available till 2010 and till they are ALL sold out!
Now for a better price so pls contact me over www.kgbflat.com. For 2010 there will be a new "NEUTRAL" company where I will colaborate doing designs. As you know all our KGB designs have been made by me and my best friend from Madrid and now like every year we have something really new and light for 2010! Stay tunned and ride on! All the best to everyone!"

Is this (http://www.kgbflat.com/v2/?p=105) that frame we saw melting at some contest a few weeks ago? Or is it the same geometry but now in alloy?

If so, can this be the return of alloy to flatland frames? 1Kg? Would it hold?

Ok, so did Vicki know that Martti was putting out this newsletter?  Nothing on the KGB site, why?  Is Vicki saying he will continue with some kind of flatland parts endeavor?

I will check back in a few days, maybe some answers will be forthcoming.  I was thinking about those space forks with the cool brake.  KGB took chances with innovating products, which is risky.  Flatland is not a cash market in the first place...

Nope, that's the one! And what made you think Martti broke a chromoly one? He broke an aluminum frame. A chromoly version of this frame doesn't exist!
Why is it that you misread things all the time? Do yourself a favor and stop misinterpreting things! :P ;D -_-

If so, can this be the return of alloy to flatland frames? 1Kg? Would it hold?

Simple questions, simple answers: No, and no!

Nope!

for kgb fans, fear not. heard it on the local flatland grapevine:
both martti and vicki will be running their own independent companies.
martti's already test riding a prototype frame, probly be one of the first product from his new company,

anyways, both are great riders and i wish them all the best.
