Name: Thomas Deschenaux a.k.a Control Age: 23 Sex: Male Location: Annecy, FRANCE
When did you start riding? I started riding in 2003
How often do you ride? When it’s possible I ride half past hour or two everyday
Do you ride contests? If yes, what has been your biggest success? I don’t ride so many contests, I prefer cool jams and riding with my friends in a good spirit. I won Circle Cow X (2009) in master class.
Where do you ride? – Your Spot(s)I live in Annecy. I’ve some spots in the city and in border of lake. And I ride regularly in Lyon with my friends.
Can you tell us a bit about the riding scene in your town? We are four flatlanders. The flatland scene in Annecy is “under construction”!
Imagine you could make a flatland world tour, which 5 places would you like to visit for riding and why?Ouah, this is a dream he he. I want to go to California (there the BMX was born), In New York City to ride the big apple! Japan of course, the biggest flatland scene of the world, Berlin to ride one of the most underground cities in Europe, In England to ride with the TGM crew!
Is there a goal you would like to reach concerning your riding?Make what I want, hard tricks and some Nose Wheelie variants. Make riding without squeak and fast, maybe with some jumps.
Which trick/combo are you working on at the moment? At the moment I work on whiplash and whopper and this is really hard!! I work to on exclusive nose wheelie combo but I don’t know if it’s possible...
What kind of music do you like? Tell us your 3 favourite songsI listen to many underground hip hop music and little bit of dub step.My 3 favourite songs... it’s difficult!! I would say: Shook one Part II by Mobb Deep, Underground by Necro and Beat 2 Boul (Move’z lang, Lunatic, les sages po) on cut killer beat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EXwLcw0AZ4)
Tell us 3 things you like and 3 things you don’t like: 3 things I like:Ride with my friendsMeet new flatlanders or BMXersThe BMX family 3 things I don’t like:The rainPeople who said shitThe thirst of victories...
What is your job/what do you study?I’m a graphic designer (in the marketing department) of a French ski and mountain wear company.
What are your hobbies besides flatland and do they influence your way of riding? (For example music you listen to, another sport you do or whatever)Beside flatland I paint, take photos and videos, some graphics creations and listen to many songs, for me it’s like a universe! The art, the music, the world of the creation generally inspires me because there is a permanent renewal, a will of innovation always present and which advances things, and for me this is a very important thing.
