Forward Hitchiker is one of the tougher flat tricks to learn. Not only is it a super hard trick to get into, but you will be faced with hitting the bars on the ground for months! Then one day, poof, you realize to lean back! :) I would recommend learning backwards hikers first as they are easier and will allow you to learn balance points faster. I learned these by riding in through a Karl Kruiser...I also learned them 3 years after I could roll bw hikers! These are no picnic, so good luck and practice! Get in by riding into a FW Karl Kruiser. Then, I personally go to the half-hiker for a little while then drop it down. In the vid, Artur prefers to drop it down from KK immediately. The trick in dropping it down is to stand up straight and put even pressure on the pegs. For some reason, rolling forward with even pressure on the pegs took me weeks to learn even though I'd had bw's rolling stuff for years....It just takes practice and again, analyzing what your doing wrong in every attempt and make it a point to focus on correcting that certain mistake...This kinda breaks the trick down into steps and is easier for me to vision. I would recommend learning the halfhiker position from KK and then once you can roll those, it will be second nature dropping it down once you have the correct pressure on each peg. Also, remember when you stand up to put that free arm out to side (more than you think) to counter balance the frame. Try and stay center over the bars too, that helps. To get out, either bring it back up to halfhiker, then back to KK or go straight back to KK [as seen in the vid] and step on the frame or back peg and your good! Now go ride! |
