Backwards Hitchiker is the easier of the two hikers for sure. Again, because you lean back and drag your bars along without flipping over forward.
Once you have learned bw-halfhikers, you will be well on your way. All that remains to do is grab the tire with the same hand currently on the seat. Drop it down to a hike position and lock it out. This will be hard to get at first, because the tire will move and you have to figure out how to make it all work. It's lots of balance in the upper body and knees when you're going slow like in the video. If you can cruise bw-halfhikers at a good speed, then rolling the bw-hitchiker is going to be a little easier. At first, you will try and drop it down and hit your bars every time. Lean back just a touch...And do some more pushups :). You just have to lock it in the correct position and roll. Again, consistent pressure on either peg is a big key. You're gonna want to have control of steering just like any other trick.
Now watch the vid and go try it!!! For now, I would recommend you learn dropping and pulling the trick up on the same side as you don't have to learn anything switch yet. I'll put up a video of full bw-hitchiker whips in a few days.
Here are a couple other Youtube references that might help with this trick:
