Hi!Question about my BMX
« on: April 21, 2006, 06:37:52 PM »
Hi all,
I'm living in Belgium and two years ago I bought a WTP 4 Seasons AM,
but this bike is made for: dirt, park and street...
Now I don't like park anymore, and I would try the flat,
but the problem is that I dunno if my bike is a good one for the flat...
So please, help me!

:D

welcome in this wonderful adventure that flat is...
I live in Italy but I often go to bruxelles for my job, and i knew the flatlandbelgium web page. You can go there and ask, maybe you'll find people near you to give good advices... ^_^
If you are in bruxelles you can also try to go to hangloose shop, they are kind and maybe can help you in something!
goodflat!

Sì, italiano, bellissimo! ^_^

Anyway, they are right, it will be hard!
But at the same time it's not so impossible and gives you the opportunity to get the feeling with flat and decide. Sure that if you already ride you'll know something about flat and for all that is beginning, static and moving (fork glides or peg wheelies and so) you don't really need  flat bike. My advice is to try and then, if you decide to go for it, get new parts, a lot of patience and ride!
The only thing I would change with a little money are a couple of aluminum pegs (street are really slippery and can be very frustrating and a little dangerous)
and for 2 euros a pair of plastic pedals, your legs will love you for it.
25 euros and you can start your flat ride! ^_^

glue some griptape on your pegs and buy a cheap 0-offset fork, if you already have decided to buy new stuff...  And you will need a seat which you can gripp well, then start with steamrollers, crosshand steamrollers and pegwheelies. After two, three weeks, you will manage theese rolling tricks, and if it´s just for some seconds, and you will see it´s pure pleasure!
Next week, you will find my wethepeople zero fork at ebay. Will you buy it, you´ll just have to send me an email and you will get a second-hand seat for free.

no problem. You´ve got a street frame which is very long and a fork which has got offset. trying a hang5, whipping the bike to steamroller or many other things are much easier with a 0-offset, especially with a long frame. Additional, a fork with offset makes your bike longer.

so,
I should change my fork, put a freecoaster, and what else?

Cause I tried the Basic Trick, it's a trick known in french but i'm not sure in English it has the same name...

It's like beginning with your feet  on the pegs( leftside for me) then turning and moving your right leg, so you are in front of your bike and you have to go ahead like that and then come back on ur seat :D
I'm a real beginner and I still can't do this trick... But it's the easiest one :'(:'(:'( Maybe my bike is too long...
