I could use some bike recomendations for my riding style
« on: October 12, 2007, 05:58:25 AM »
I am 16 and looking to get serious with bmx. At the moment i use my friends haro its

green and weighs about 40 pounds and im looking to get a better one of my own.

I have been working on doing 180s and riding fakie alot, along with alot of manuals

and bunny hopping.  Ive also been working on doing a fork glide and nearly have it

down.    we also have about a 3 foot ramp that we use to do one 180s and 360s

and occasionly to jump off for of it for fun.  me and my friend spend probably 90%

of our time out side riding our bikes around town; so i really want to get a fairly

decent bike.  ill probably be doing a mix of flat land and some street riding. If you

guys think a flatland bike is for me what kind of bike should i be looking at and if

what i do is too rough for a flat land bike what other bike should i be looking at.

Id like to spend under 500$ and a free coaster is a must atm pedaling backwards

while fakie has really been hard for me

get a strong frame and a solid wheelset. if your riding a bit of street and flat get yourself a 14 mm hubset...get a reverse hub if you got enough cash...i have the same style like yours so recently i got myself a haro m7 ...long enough for street yet light and has the right angles for street...and has a euro bb and internal headset to boot...check flatland fuel.com...they have it for sale for 100 bucks. a steal if you ask me...or if you got more dough check the function...another sweet frame if u ask me..they have a lot of sweet deals at that place...for example the master frame is a hundred +160 bucks for the haro wheelset+premium euro cranks 90 bucks+ ares fork 50 bucks+40 bucks for the odyssey stem+13 bucks for master bars+22bucks for tires+10 bucks for khe pedals for a grand total of 485 buck...and i got the parts from the sale section man...just buy the other parts for a few more and you got yourself a ride worthy for your needs..and you could customize as you go...

Bikes are really not very complex, or guys at your local bike shop/skatepark could help you out.

I'm 15 and I've taken a bunch of bikes apart down to the frame(even the wheels hehe hope I don't die) and put them together again. Its not that hard but it takes practice just like a trick

Tools needed for bike creation.

-Brain
-Internet most likely
-Assorted allen wrenches
-rubber mallet (I like it for bottom brackets and for things that don't want to fit.)
-large hammer (I use my mini sledge for this job, things that really don't want to fit)
-headset spacers (not really a tool, but you always end up needing them)
-more grease than you think you will need
-assorted socket wrenches

Feel free to add anything I left out

WTP Metric is a good complete.

Or the WTP Div.

Will hold up to alot of abuse.

And, you really should learn how to put a bike together. First stage to keeping your bike feelin sweet is knowin how it all works, and you only know that by taking it apart!

So i ended up buying the haro m7 frame for 100 dollars along handle bars with the grips for 13 and the euro crankset for 89 and the  Ares Flatland fork for 50.

Now im deciding on the wheel set anyone heard anything good or bad about the Haro Turbine Freecoaster?
