KGB Brake System - Reflex
« on: October 07, 2007, 04:06:57 PM »
After 2 years of testing KGB is finally releasing their own brake system called "Reflex". The idea behind this system is to offer as much room for scuffing as a breakless bike. The system works only with the new Space2 fork because of the different mounting. It´s going to be available soon with a normal cable and also with cables for 2 brake levers.

A video on YouTube proofs the functionality:

I actually think this is a real good product.

I can tottaly see the advantage and reason to purchase it.

Only thing that poses trouble to me at the moment...

How hard will it be to set up? And once set up how hard is it to dial in?

The one reason I have changed from my stock Dia-Compe Hombre's is beacuse they are so simple to dial in perfectly, a five year old could do it.

Hopefully these will be on the easier side, but with two cables, I sense not.

i think it should be relatively easy since you are dealing with one arm at a time. you basically match what you do with one arm to the other. No third-hand brake tool needed   :P

But what i dont see is it 2 cables coming from the same lever (which limits options of preferred levers) or there is a 1 to 2 cable splitter for any lever (which might be tiny bit trickier to dial in) ?

This brake is the result of a love between a V-brake and a 990 LOL

So its an upside down v-brake...
I really don't see how its more out of the way... the upside down arm part could easily be kicked into the spokes from the way it looks...

I was kinda thinking the same thing.  They seem like good brakes but prone to be kicked into the wheel if you dont have your tricks down.

I like it as far as the scuffing room goes but not so keen on the dual cable thing.

I also wonder how many people will hurt their hands/trap fingers doing rear wheel tricks that involve holding the front forks?

Top marks for innovation though.

its a really good idea. I do wonder if its really necessary for the arms to be so long. An inch shorter wouldnt make it that much harder to brake would it?
