Cheap generic cables vs name brand cables
« on: May 28, 2023, 06:38:04 PM »
Does anyone else notice a loss in braking power when using a cheap generic cable over say an odyssey cable? I had a quick slik and my front brakes were perfect. I changed to a generic rainbow brake cable for my daughter and now my brakes suck lol.

A regular standard brake cable has a spiral housing and the cable will stretch and bind.

The curve around the fork leg is particularly where you get the sponginess with a regular cable.

"Linear" cables have linear stands for the housing so you get a much more solid pull even in tight curves.
