Different types of flatland surfaces?

I’ve noticed a lot of flatlanders riding on wood surfaces? Just wondering if their cheaper than concrete or asphalt to place in backyard.

May be that wood surface is the main surface in contests ?...If it is, daily riding on wood is an advantage.

Hello, I remember the first time I rode on a wooden floor at a contest and it was horrible. But not because of the surface but because it was flexing a lot. I think it became an option for contest because you can build it up and remove it after the contest. You can also protect a sensitive indoor floor for example. If you think about building a spot I guess it will be cheaper. It also leads to less wear of your tires.
My personal opinion is that I prefer a fine asphalt or concrete.

I hate wood floors in contests, the flex and wobble is terrible.
if you want a cheap solution for your backyard then yes, go ahead with it.

I've had mixed results with wood floors, if you do built one - put the extra money and time to do it right. It will be worth it, if you go cheap you will hate it.
