WeThePeople Utopia 20"
« on: June 25, 2021, 07:10:31 PM »

Hey Friends,

I'm new to the forum and new to Flatland. Recently picked up a new 20" utopia in translucent purple. In March this year I purchased a Colony Apprentice complete which was great (albeit a little short for me). When I got my bike set up I got connected to some really great guys in Portland who have been helping me along the way and letting me borrow a few parts (fork/crank). Prior to purchasing this frame Timmer74 let me use his previous 20" utopia with a straight top tube and that sealed the deal on a longer frame.

The shorter rear end takes a little adjustment cannot say enough great things about it. If you are heading to Portland, say hello! There is a great crew out here that rides several times a week.

TT: 20"
Chain Stay: 12.4" - 13.2"
Standover: 6.2"
HT: 75 degrees
Seat: 71 degrees

Fork (borrowed): Fastpitch 13mm offset
Cranks (borrowed): Profile 160
Bars: Colony Full CrMo, 8.9″ Rise x 28.0″ Wide
Front / Rear hubs / wheels: Colony (from apprentice)Pegs: Generic
Up next: New rims/spokes/maybe hub/Buying a fork

Sweet build! Congrats on the frame and for landing into a great scene. Can you simply flip that front wheel around so that it says Colony the way the rear does? Also how is that freecoaster treating you? Seems like the colony complete came with decent bars and seat. And if the wheels have sealed hubs then even better.

Thanks!
The seat post and seat were replaced because I bent the original non-pivotal seat learning how to hang five. The new seat is much better and easier on the hands for steamrollers etc. No sharp bits to cut your fingers.

Seatpost: Colony Exon 330
Seat: Deco Target Tsutomu Kitayama Signature
Grips: Federal Bikes Command

I just went and turned the wheel around. I didn't even notice!  Free coaster seems to be fine. I don't have any complaints but my experience is very limited. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Loving the black / purple vibe.

Side note: Apparently I am awful at reading verification letters. I've tried to reply to this thread like 10 times.  ;D

That's how I felt when I lived there, Joe and others were very welcoming and encouraging.
