Oh jeez well consider it good riddance and move on from the FreqG’s. The Ares is the best feeling tire out there. And the 1.90 size is so solid.

If you’re use to a 1.75” size you might want to try the Ares 1.75”. It actually measures close to 1.88” and the Ares 1.90” measures a little over 2.1”.

I'm loving the ares tire. Spins great, perfect amount of grippyness and is shaped good so it feels nice rolling in both straight lines and in circles.. Doesn't require a break in period like the frequency g do.

Tread is way thinner then the frequency g so I suspect it won't last as long. Let's see how long it lasts, my last frequency g took about 2 months before the threads started showing.

Dom Tires are still around. In fact, I just messaged Dom this week & he wants to release a  20 X 1.75 width. I told him that would be a super popular choice! If you need a pair, I have them. I got a bunch from Dom in a bulk order.

what? you said super popular? where are you living/riding?
Sorry no, popular size for flatland these days is 1.90, or more
(yeah, like 20 years ago  O0 )

What are you jumping off 20 stair gaps and garage roofs?!?! Anything over 1.85 is useless for flat.

I dunno 1.9ish still seems good to me, though I do prefer smaller.

Back in late 90s when I was practicing rolling tricks in straight long lines, like jugglers down a slight hill for example, I used to use 2.1 primo wallls. Seemed to help somewhat with maintaining the balance.

The sidewall of the ares tire blew out on me today  >:(

But I was using it on a wider rim then recommended and I had it pumped up to 135 psi , so I guess I cant complain too much.

I was really liking the tire too.

Quick tip on those: keep it under 125 psi or if you do whoppers, 120 psi

Hi, I had a similar problem with a DOM tire years ago. After discussing with Dominik who kindly replaced it, we agreed that the reason might have been that burr/rough area on the rim damaged the tire. I ground my rim with sand paper and it didn't happen again. It still could have been a bad batch, but maybe you can check your rims. With the same rim it never happened to me with KHE tires, so I think that some tire are stronger in that region than others...

I won't be going over 120 next time, not sure why I pushed it to 135

Thanks I'll take a closer look at the inside of the rim just in case. I looked originally and didn't see anything but admittedly I didn't inspect very closely.

I think though that I just pushed the psi too high. I rode for 2.5 weeks at 120 psi with no problem. Then yesterday I pump it up to 135, go ride and 10 minutes later it explodes during backwards rolling hang 5.

I still Like Freq G in 1.75 but I have Box Hex tires which I sub in for slick floors. The Box Hex are sticky as hell but the thin pattern scare me. Figure they won't last very long but man I like them.

Good to know about the Box tires since I’ve not heard much about them. Still loving the Ares 1.9’s even tho i think they similarly have a short life

Thanks for the heads up on the box hex tires, was thinking of trying them but won't now as I mostly ride on a rough surface so they wouldn't last long.

Hello everybody,
bringing this back as i am in the market for a new tire.
Has anyone tried the s&m trackmark tire at 2.1?
I would prefer something wider than the ares 1.90 and those look fine.
By the way i used the hex box tire for sometime and it was amazing!
it was super for rolling and scuffing but one day after 2 months it explode.
So i ll stay away for now!

The Trackmark 1.95 actually measures out to a 2.1 and is wider than the Ares A-Class 1.90

I have a ton of room in my odyssey flatware fork with the Ares and when I swapped to the Trackmark 1.95 I had to make sure the tire was perfectly aligned or it would rub the fork.
