Anyone still riding a platform bike?
« on: September 06, 2018, 07:56:08 PM »
Seeing Martin riding a Turner Pft like  frame makes me missing the look of the old style frames with platforms.  I think it was way more comfortable while doing decades. Does anyone still riding with platform? Besides the Haro bikes ;)

There are a couple of people riding Haro's or other custom frames (PIR, WE).

Hey wesbmxr, cool handlebar  :) Coaster, I do a lot of decades and this stopped me buying a new frame when all the new ones had no platform anymore around 2005. Then I decided to try it and I got used to it. Now I ride without and still do a lot of decades. Sometimes my feet hurt, but this could also be caused by my age  ::) .I still think it might be better with a platform, but my custom frame is without and I think I leave it like this. I think it is also personal preference and some feet are more sensitive...I remember Ulrich Kittel saying he stopped doing decades when he switched to frame without a platform after a while because his feet hurt.

Thanks Daddycool!! Custom London Dagmars. I know what you mean man, my other bike is a 17.9' St. Martin Evo (no platform) and the difference in decades is very pronounced. I'm always interested to see other riders' bikes, especially a custom. Post that hot rod man!!

I used to ride a double top tube STM 10 frame. It helps me for decade. Now with the Haro Master, the platform also helps me for cliffhanger. The frame does not move between my knees ;)

Ya, there expensive, so is a Standard, S&M or FBM custom..
Other options are the Colony Prody or Eddie Fiola Former Pro but those may not have the geometry you like.

Hi wesbmxr,I did a bike check back then ("Two similar PiR custom bikes (07 2014)"):http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=61962.msg465108#msg465108I change a few minor parts, but basically I ride them like this today.
I hope you like them  :)
