Odyssey Clutch V1 vs V2
« on: February 28, 2018, 06:48:30 AM »
I moved from the general threads... sorry if you're reading again :)

Hey all,
Has anybody tried out the V2 of the Odyssey Clutch? Thoughts?

Also, it seems like much of the internals are shared between v1 and v2. I wonder if I could replace the parts in my V1 with the V2 specific parts (axle, driver, side collar, engagement cone) and essentially have a V2. Anybody tried this?

thanks
Tim

I haven't checked it out yet, but Odyssey says:

Improvements over the Clutch V1
  • 14mm chromoly axle bolts on both the drive and non-drive side for greater reliability
  • Improved clutch engagement
  • Improved manufacturing precision throughout
  • More slack than the V1 hub
  • All-new durable proprietary plastic spec for the removable hub guard

thx out~riding. I'd seen that as well and is why I'm curious about trying the v2. I was wondering if I could just buy the "v2" specific parts and get the benefits of the new upgrades without needing to buy an entire hub. Also, curious to hear from people that have tried the V2 to see how they're liking it and/or notice a difference over the v1.

I could probably sell my v1 for about the cost of the v2 specific parts too... so, in the end it'd probably be about the same cost either way.

You could also try asking Odyssey direct. The contact emails are on their site.

ha, you're 100% correct Paradoxium! I'll probably do that to see if the parts will be a quick swap out. But, am still curious if people on here have tried it and think it's worth the upgrade :).

cheers

I have the v2,i dont know about internals but i am coming from khe mechanism and the gap is a bit smaller than those!
i lost some pedal trick due to the smaller gap!
But it rolls perfect and it doesnt have wobbling!
