How to watch Flatark 2016 Live
« on: October 29, 2016, 10:02:02 AM »

Some people were asking us about a Flatark Live stream and it looks like abema.tv from Japan is going to broadcast the finals live. Maybe someone is going to do it on Facebook as well. Let's see. For abema.tv there are a few challenges if you are not located in Japan ;-)

1st step: First of all the broadcast time: October 30 (Sunday) 18:00 to 20:45 (local time, GMT+9)
To find out the current local time in Japan you simply google "local time japan". That should give you some orientation.

2nd step (outside Japan): The bigger problem is that abema.tv is only broadcasting to Japanese internet users. The geeks out there will already know there is a thing called "VPN" which allows you to pretend that you are connected from Japan (or any other country). There are 100s of VPN services, for most of them you need to pay (not much). We can recommend TunnelBear.com, they give you up to 1500MB for free (500 for free+1000 for a tweet) which might be enough to watch the Flatark broadcast but we can't guarantee anything. Maybe it will be slow or low quality or not working at all. Just give it a try if you are really keen to watch live. If anyone has more experience with Japanese VPN services then please post a comment and enlighten us.

UPDATE: Jussi found the F-Secure Freedome VPN service. It's free to use for 5 days. Just make sure you select Japan as your location in the app.

3rd step: If you are in Japan or have your VPN setup ready then simply go to https://abema.tv/channels/world-sports/slots/8fuBSPfhQ1sgBH on sunday at the above mentioned time.
