what flatland means to me: So i ride BMX. Many people wonder why i do, some view it as a waste of time, others wonder why this lil black boy trying to kill himself doing white people thing. Not until you enter into our circle will you understand. BMX isn't just a past time or a sport, it is an art form. Hours of hard work, dedication, injuries and stressful moments go into this, with your only coach being yourself, depending only on your connection with your star player to keep you going. Should it be compared to anything in similarity, i'd say ballet. To the immature mind you will instantly think 'oh that's gay!' However a ballet requires years of dedication, strength and impeccable balance to be considered even an ameteur. Thus the journey begins! Training day after day, month after month and years on hand, mastering tricks and learning to link them into combinations of speed, technicality and difficulty to create something as beautiful to behold. Through this sport i've personally created bonds in paces i never would have reached, with friends in all corners of the globe, from UK to Australia, Barbados to Indonesia, learning to communicate in over 4 languages and learning new cultures. How can one view such as a waste of time? My bike has made a name for me, i have gained the respect of many and holds to me privileges i've never fathom of having before. I love what i do! My name is Tevin Mills and i have been active in BMX for 2 years and this has been my story.
