Where to look in backward steamroller
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:13:06 PM »
I'm trying to get this trick, and I'm not sure where I should be looking.

When doing a hang 5 you are supposed to look ahead, and I assume that is a s much a posture thing.

I'm so inconsistent with not enough lift too much lift, that I'm questioning what I'm doing.

Tips please.

I guess it is now t.j Perry will ask you to post a vid, either to him directly or on this thread of your attempt...lol, kidding.
but do ask t.j, i think he does them. But be warned- he expects you to be beholden to him after giving his 'sagely' tips... Lol jk, jk.

If you're thinking about where to look, you won't know where to look.

I guess I was thinking that I'm keeping my head down, by mostly looking at the rear wheel, and wondering if I "should" be making en effort to lift my head more. Maybe not focus on the wheel but something else.

You're just over thinking it. I can never remember where I look during tricks and if I do, it screws me up.

A backward steam roller is a fork wheelie- anyway.. I always look at the rear wheel. It always helps to know your spot so you don't crash into stuff behind you.

Today i tried to find out where to look at on some tricks and it drived me crazy. Its really too much thinking. Only when u catch a seat or the handlebar and so on, it really matters where to look at.
Imagine to try the stuff with your eyes closed and you will get the feeling right.  >:D

As far as the lift goes I usually just use the weight of the bike to determine that. Not so much hold it up but use it as counter weight for my body.

Looking At the bottom bracket...? It will change as you do it more I've noticed.

The reason I asked, is if you do a hang five, I'm told you must look forward, or you won't go very far.

Sometimes I noticed I was looking at the front wheel, and sometimes the back. It seems looking at the front wheel is bad.

I also moved my bars, and that has helped a lot. I always kept them parallel to the fork, but that was becoming a problem. Moved them more perpendicular to the ground, and it works better for me.

I've heard if you jerk off you get hairy palms too :P

I think I usually look around my front wheel. Never straight forward.

really, back wheel during a fork wheelie?

im gonna try that, no way i will be able to balance lol.

on front wheel i look always somewhere in the whereabouts of the front wheel.

sometimes during a fork wheelie i tend to look at a hot girl passing by too but thats inconsistent  O0
