hey again it is the quality to
you can thicker seatposts that
are aluninum and still be light
as hell and thompson are one of those seatposts and cutting down
seatposts does save weight but it
will be still heavier than the
full aluninum not cut seatposts.

i think again you should look at
quality and then lightness in buying bike parts.

It's almost the same thing than having a Ti sprocket, it makes no sense.

it does if you run low gearing e.g 24/9 cos there is loads of force on the teeth of the sproket so it will just eat at the teeth if its alloy  :o

go for the st.martin seatpost.
its heavy but its the best, even better than the thompson.
it weights aout 500 gr but if you cut 10 cm is 400 or something because its filled with alloy inside.
i have it for 2months and its still straight.
before this one i was changing seatposts about every month
i changed about 10 seatposts in a year because of a trick that i am doing in the backwheell and land with all my power in the seatpost..
its the best ,you wont regret it..
i bought it 25 euros

How do you bend the your seatposts? I have owned lots of them (about 10) and never bend any of them, and I'm not the smoothest rider around. Learn how to hang 5 properly, guys.  ;) `

lol.i am doing hang fives for years, and when i was learning it i didnt have a problem with the seatpost at all.
when you roll backwards in rolling caboose(fudgepacker i think) position after a g-turn
if something goes wrong you land exactly on your seatpost.
thats how i bend them

Don't land straight on your seat, land on pedals or put your feet on the ground before the back wheel touches the ground.

I rode an odyssey intac for over a year, it stood up to the abuse well, for being a relatively cheap post.
So if your on a budget, without a doubt go for the intac.

I now ride a Thomson, its crazy light and when you actually have one in your hand you can feel the quality.
I would say its worth the extra £ but its up to you.

Peace,

Pete
