OldYeller, you mentioned the TT sizes of the Masters and Sports, do you know the rest of the specs for them at all? I had a look at the 88 Haro catalogue but the frame specs aren't mentioned.

I suppose what I'm really after is something that would have as close as possible to the same specs as my 88 Master. Or in other words, if someone were to build a new school bike to the 88 Master specs would it be possible and how would you go about it?

Thanks for all the info so far too guys, very much appreciated. :)

I can't confirm, but there was a member here tafkat stating this:

Quote
The Haros- Master had a 19" top tube, Sport had a 19.5" top tube; chainstays were 14"-15". Head angles were 74 degrees for the Master, 73.5 for the Sport (numbers are for 1987 and later models). 72 degree seat tube angles.

I think the BB height was 11.5" from what I've seen.

The Ketch could get in the ballpark on that chainstay length and 19" top tube, but the angles are different.

I'm 5'11" riding the Autum Blitz V2 frame (18.7"tt, 12.4"cs).  It's not all about the frame, though.  I'm riding 9.5" tall street bars with a 36mm top-load stem.
The following is the truth.  The preceeding is a lie.

I'm probably taller than 99% of riders out there. I'm 6"4 and riding a 19.5 mankind code. Rear end totally slammed. I hate long rear ends and 13 or so is perfect.

Yea I'm still undecided on weather to go with a 19" or 19.5" TT but I'm leaning strongly toward the Intrikat. The frame specs look very similar to those of the Master and I love those translucent colours.

From what you guys have said I suppose if I went with a 19" I could make up some extra length with a longer stem and the 13" slammed CS seems pretty common and obviously could be adjusted longer than 13". Would it be safe to say that most frame dropouts are about the same length?

As SurfonFlatland said, the size of the bars make a big difference. I think if I put bigger bars on the Opsis (the stock bars are small and low with not a lot of backsweep) it'd feel totally different, probably something with a bit more backsweep and kinder on the wrists. My Master has GT Performer bars and the Group 1 stem on it so something similar might be the go, if anyone knows the specs on 87/88 GT bars?

Why not keep your Master and put on new school forks and a smaller drive train? When i started riding again  i tried the suelo frame and liked it but why conform. Now my 2 bikes are both frankenstiens part 86 part 2010.Especially if you like the old school tricks.Besides if i see a another hiker link.... i will puke.

The S&M and Master are totally different geometry wise.  Going from a master you are better off with a 20" TT Cult with a 13.55 rear end.  You will enjoy the extra room up front and to knock an inch and a half off the back end is pretty crazy.

I'm 6'0" with long reach/inseam and I'm riding a 20"tt Intrikat - http://www.global-flat.com/smf/index.php?topic=59517.0

Short back end with enough room up front. Personally I don't think I could ever go below a 19.5''. 20" seems to perfect.
