9"-10" street bars for flatland? Anyone running them?
« on: October 06, 2013, 01:38:09 AM »
Hey Fellow Riders, I was wondering if anyone has been riding street bars for flat? I have been considering getting some 9 inch or ten inch rise bars. None of them at the local bike shop have minimal backsweep, but many have minimal upsweep.

If you have tried these out what do you think? I really would like to learn some nose manual stuff. I have hang 5's pretty good brakeless, but I would like to improove on them still and also get to some nose manual tricks too. Also Would higher bars help with half lashes and whiplashes? I have been on the verge of getting those too. Obviously practice makes progress, but it would always be nice to speed the progress up!

I have a suggestion for you...

Quest BMX Miyagi Bars (Check them out Link in my Sig) The Bars are awesome, They are..

8.75" Height
27" Width
3 Up
6 Back
7/8" Cross Bar (Same as the rest of the Bar)
Straight Gauge .065" Tubing all round

No ultra mega butting or stupidly small O.D Cross Bars here! they have a lower 5" Cross Bar which will make it easier to step over them. The are 2-Piece Bars that have been designed for Strength & with Flatland Riding in mind!

AND.. I will be coupling them with a 36mm Long Madera Mast Top Load Stem which has a 35mm (About 1.5") Rise which will put the Quest Bars at 10.25" in height & then if you have spacers under your Stem or a Large Stack Height Headset Cap also you could get 11"+ Feeling Bars!

That would be my suggestion for you  :)

@Topsey and DBZ Thank you!

I like those miyagi bars alot! I am considering ordering them.

Anyone else running these on here?

Also are there any obvious benefits to running higher bars? Do they help learning nose manuals?

Thanks!

Big Bars do give you more leverage to push or pull the back or front end up but, at the end of the day it all comes down to technique! Its all in your head my friend, if you believe you can do it, you will have a better chance of doing it!

I'm running 9.5" rise bars from "The Set."  They feature 12 degree back and 1 degree up.  I would prefer something with less back sweep, but they work for me.
The following is the truth.  The preceeding is a lie.
