« on: October 02, 2013, 05:24:20 PM »
My Ody Twists are great in most aspects, Grip, weight, and strength, but by golly do they get in the way still..

I've not seen a great deal of decent alternatives out there either...

So what do you rock?

Premium slim, glass/graphite type- super grippy and the knurl last a fairly long time; the draw-backs are the sharp corners. Slice open the sides and back of my calfs a couple of times.
Ares 88 products pedals, great all-round pedal body shape that's very similar to the Shimano dx pedals; on smaller side, foot ache if used too long;sharp edges where the reflectors were meant to be installed.
Hoffman bikes magnesium body, titanium spindle, seal-bearing pedals. Cheap compared to what mtbs companies will ask for similar spec'ed and built pedals. Between the Ares and Premium on size, knurl pattern wears off pretty fast, making it slick if used without the pins. Pin& nut combo makes the pedals heavy but smooth and fought as hell.
khe updates of MKS graphite X, the sealed bearing version plastic pedals are the heaviest of the lot here. Last real long and is grippy, but bear-trap type of design for front half of pedals are shin killers. Did i mention they are heavy?...

What do you mean by "they get in the way"?

Are you looking for thinner pedals, or smaller is size?

In the past, I have ridden a smaller pedal like the wellgo Nano's, which are out-of-the-way, light, and cheap. But the size and comfort drawbacks got me to ditch em.

The other pedal i considered buying was the colony since it's recessed on the ends, but i was skeptical of its overall strength. But on the other hand you get colors and slightly lower weight.

So yeah, the twistedPC's are a little large, but Odyssey got the strength, feel, and grip just right. My favorite part is the twisted ends that seems to better deflect impacts when bashed on the ground, which makes them extremely durable.

Shouldn't blame it on the tools....?
