Stop Motion Flatland Project by Locky Naef
« on: April 22, 2013, 06:34:04 AM »

Forum member "lockypoo" posted this on the boards, but it needs to be featured. This is just a very rough trial as he explained, but it's a great sneak peak at his project, and it sounds like the end result will be incredible!

He says:

"This is a project i've been working on for a while. Don't expect anything amazing. TEST.  Just posting this to build some interest when i get to do a more in-depth project. When i get the green screen and puppet issues addressed Puppet is a foam body, wire armature.  Sustained broken shoulder hip and knee in the making. Needs a rebuild before i can go again. If anyone has any advice on programs i could use. Homemade green screen tips. i have a rigg holding my puppet i am having problems getting to Key out properly Let me know. lockynaef.com"

If anyone has tips, links or help to offer, please let him know in the comments. This is fascinating!

Nice stuff, I work in animation myself.  10 years doing hand drawn and the past 10 doing CG.  You should apply at Laika (makers of coralline, Paranorman), seriously you should.

Where are you located?  Wherever you maybe apply, nothing beats doing what you love for a living.  I've been an animator for nearly 20 years and love it.  Never turn down a chance to animate for a living.  You have the passion for it.

Yeah ive been watching the laika studio stuff.
Im in australia. Big distance to portland usa.
Funny thing i had a mate at school we both were going the same path. I deverted to sculpting and hands on stuff.
He went the computer route. Works animation. The bastard went on to work for dr d studios on happy feet 2 and from that hes mow working on the hobbit movie series.

My bike probly keeps me away from study. I plan to build a portfolio of home diy projects and use that in a few years time to get involved in something bigger. I hope.
Once the missus finishes her studies and makeig the big coin i will be free to do anything. Work , not work. Create and ride is my plan.

What projects have you worked on.

I started back in 1996 on Space Jam than onto Quest for Camelot.  Worked on Iron Giant with Brad Bird which was the best.  Moved onto Osmosis Jones than over to DreamWorks, Sony, lots of places.  Went over to Disney for Princess and the Frog and lately been working in video games.
