hows your switch side
« on: February 25, 2013, 04:26:56 PM »
I have been riding for a little while now(8 months ish) and im wondering how much time you guys spend working on switch stuff? I have been working switch hangfives and whiplashes for a while with a little bit of progress but some stuff like fork glides is weird.

any tips? i have been thinking of dedicating like 20 minutes a session to switch stuff.

I am also working on switch stuff too. I can do simple stuff like switch pegwheelie or whiplash but I cannot scuff with my switch foot, feels weird. I can bunnyhop 180 in both directions and both pedal positions though. I think spending a portion of your session for switch stuff is good, it would help you a lot in combos later on.

I've also just started practicing doing the easier stuff from my switch side, fork glides, tailwhips, whiplashes... wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. the fork glide is the weirdest for me so far though...

I learnt fork glides on my switch side  >:D   So when it came to progressing it went slow for a while IE. i learnt forward steamrollers quiet quickly but getting out of them was a challenge as i couldn't fork glide on the correct side

So i had to go back to basics after riding for just over a year and learnt correct sided fork glide but it's all good now as i can fwd & bwd steamroller (either hand and foot) both side, both side fire hydrant, both side McCircles, both peg wheelies, both spinning peg wheelies and i'm learning opposite side hang 5's this month

Progression has been slow for my first 2.5 year of riding but i'm hoping it will help down the line and maybe progression will be faster when needing both  :P

Switch hang 5's - yes
Opposite way decades - yes
Opposite whiplashes/pinky squeaks - yes
lard yards - with opposite foot on opp side (right foot left side), but not regular foot (left foot on left side)
stick b - no
e squeaks - no
fire hydrants - yes but I don't think I ever learned to link anything with them opposite
steams - yes  both sides both feet (mostly) both hand crossed or regular.

being able to ride switch is an obvious advantage- if I need a trick switch for a combo then I will work on it but I dont try to get everything switch- so many tricks to learn, not enough hours in the day

Same with me. I only learn switch if it involves a new combo or ride in/out!
