Zero Offset forks?
« on: March 05, 2013, 07:32:34 PM »
I currently have offet forks on my KHE A-Damn, but what's the difference between zero offset and regular forks? I mean I know one's straight down and the other's offset but what's the pros and cons? I'm a noob so bare with me...just trying to figure something out here.

Zero forks will get you into the trick the quickest.  Harder to hold the trick.
Offset forks are harder to get into the trick but easier to stay into the trick.
My advice is get some and try them out.

Just my experience with the two.

You could just spin your forks backwards that will give you zero too.

that's not true - depending on how much rake your forks have, you might get close to zero to negative rake.
but by flipping your bars and riding/ trying tricks out, you do get an idea of how a "quicker" fork (lesser to zero rake) will work for you.

i think flatware fork give you everything
try their zero and offset version
simply saying, riding a offset fork is more steady but harder to spin

i would NOT recommand flatwares.
why?
because if you run 1.75" untapered pegs, you have to modd the pegs to fit the dropouts;
not all 'u'-brakes will work on the low-profile brake pivot post without rubbing;
the brake pivots post have a tendency to come loose, and in certain batch, the brake pivots post boss have threading issues.
also not the lightest nor the narrowest forks out there for the price.

I think the flatware is the best fork. The warranty is awesome and mine are still going strong almost 2 years later. Zion aren't bad for the $$ I'm sure. I just hate trying to save cash and then later having cracked parts like my colony and suelo forks.

Personally I don't like 0 offset.
Makes things too twitchy.

Much prefer anything up to 20mm offset.

Im running 75.5 HTA with a 13mm offset fork. Its twitchy as hell but pretty fun which was what i wanted from the bike when i set out to build it. BMX is fun for me again & i feel like i might actually learn something on this bike. Byke, should have my Zodiac sprocket soon so i'll be running the Twombolts i bought from you months ago haha!

I ran minimal offset forks for years.  I got some zero offset odyssey forks from a trade.  I just thought that I would try them.  I can do G-turns before, but with zero forks, wayyy easier!

If you happen to get a different fork make sure you notice steer tube lengths. If you run rear brakes a longer steer tube would be more desirable for your gyro set-up. Flatware has the longest tube.
