KHE Pivotal Seat
« on: December 24, 2012, 07:45:05 PM »
Is there, or has there been some sort of marketing ploy by KHE to keep their numbers up on their railed seat posts, by not manufacturing their Watanabe seat in pivotal form?

Doubt it. Most likely the lack of a pivotal Watanabe is due to the high cost of purchasing or creating a new mold. I've heard they are extremely expensive.

I remember Matthias saying it costs like 20-30,000$ to make an original mold.

I have spoken to the owner about this before and having worked closely with KHE in the past, I think the honest truth is the setup costs are just to high. And based on how many they sell, it's just not possible at the moment.

Also remember that the pivotal design is sold through velo seats, and KHE has enjoyed a long history making seats with cionlee? (I can't remember how they spell it).

But I can say if it was as simple as just getting on with it, it would have been done long ago.
