Another straight tube bmx frame. Please make it a bit more stylish.No need to be a super bent tube but at least a raised head tube with gusset like the Standard Tao.

Or the pierced seat tube/top tube junction!

Yes,that too!! :beer:

I wasnt alone w that idea..... YEAH...

i loved how to see the full bike check. super nice with super highend parts. though, imho:

1. i like to see the cs to be slightly tapered near to the do and with inside do welding,
2. a signature bridge on the cs and ss,
3. integrated chain tensioner (removable/permanent), and
4. an engraved logo on the ht.

those are just my silly opinions only  :D

With regards to this frame being behind the curve by the time it's released, the frame should be going into production by next month. I sincerely doubt the trends will change too dramatically in that time frame
   plus who gives a sh*t!   its a standard!

the rest of the world's flatlanders?

we pay shipping charges that most american would blenched at - i would know, i tried to resell frames back to americans, most fell through due to the shipping rates.
if i'm getting a frame that's priced higher, plus the shipping rates that they are now, it's gonna have to differentiate itself other then by stickers.
i could have easily purchased a ares aplus/ footjam/ jungle rider/ a-damm frame/ tango n waltz over the new sbc frame if it's a diamond frame (example).

Anybody have anything else they'd like to see?

yes: a tapered chainstay and seatstay tubings -wider at b.b. and seattube juncture, narrower at dropouts;
more sbc-ness in the new flat bike (pretty sure mac-diamond frame lovers will disagree, lol);
better, smoother dropouts to ss/cs connection;

trying to sell a superior product at higher prices, you do not package and make it like a mac-burger; it will only fail after the sbc diehards purchase the intial small-production batch.

i will quote the success of gt's flatland bike Show.
it debuted in the mist of straight t.t, heavy-weight chromoly frames with longish c.s length and lowish b.b. height. was it an epic failure? you tell me.
not that i'm asking rick at sbc to make a curve-tube frame (that's un-sbc-ish), just think outta the box.

if you look closely, almost all chainstays, seatstays, 2-pc bars, 4-pc bars are all made by bending tubes!
and for those who insist that bend tubes are stronger - don't ride bmx/ flat bikes; fixie and road bikes are a better fit for you.
oh wait, freestyle fixies also do have bents at the chainstay and seatstays to accept wider tires... oh, what will you diehards-straight-tube-bike-porn advocates do...
seen any broken s-bent chainstays s&m/ intrikat lately?

Thank you to everyone for your input so far. Let me address one thing to be clear: I am only interested in building a frame that is top notch and for the current form of flat. The older influenced, retro style stuff but modernized can stay in my custom program. I can make the frame any geometry any rider wants. What I need from you guys is what the key points are. Maximum tire size, max sprocket size, stand over height, head tube length, how much clearance for the stays, brakes/ no brakes options, details baby! I only have interest in building the best. I have always believed as a rider, that to build the best I need to listen to those that ride a given model then use excellent materials and build process with quality control. I will listen to all and build a proto for you guys to scrutinize. Let's keep the dialogue open. Feel free to contact me directly as well.
Rick

found this quote back in the thread posted by the man himself.

sprocket size - min. 16 t, 18 t is more common
tire width - 1.85" max?
ht height - 4.5"
built in chain tensioners

these in addition to what i posted previously;

don't know rick's definition of what retro is, but nothing is more retro than diamond frames to me...

I understand that Standard wants to build a Full flat ride in bmx frame style form and that certain suggestions fall into the retro looks but My Opinion: Why can Standard just do a similar Tao head gusset? Respect to all riders who like bmx straight tubes but having a frame made in bmx style the only difference is gonna be the name Standard on it. Look at the Dan'scomp catalog and compare frames and see that they differ very little. You can make a great flat frame and satisfy many more riders in the process. Dont mean to compare but look at the Intrikat frame,i believe is a top seller.

Quality is a huge difference between standard and several other companies. Standard uses the best materials, , they have the best welders and the best quality control in the business. There is a reason for brand loyalty

this is my frame we build with malo,it weights 2 kg without brake mounts.
it can go 1850 with all tubing 0.035'' and it can go around 2 kg with 7/8 seat and chainstays at 0.049 tubing.
well i think it would be perfect for a standard modernized tao.

I have to say wills(I can't ride) standard frame is a work of art. The welds and pure quality sets it apart from many other frames. The way I look at it is if u want a strong quality frame this may be what u need. I see under a handful of frames in flatland that will holdup strength wise. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but its an option when your current frame sh*ts the bed. To just have that option in a flatland frame is a huge plus. Ride on fellas
