I dont know what is all compatible with Nankai hubs yet. Probably will not know until NYB hubs arrive.

The top 2 pics looks like the spoke flanges are different sizes and axle shorter, or is that the angle of photo?

looks like it's gonna be a bitch to adjust/ set-up if you swap out the axle; but also opens up the possibility of unlimited slack adjustibility

That's true!

The slack is widely variable by changing the position of that nut/lock nut.

Initial setup will be a headache.. you don't know where to position it...  ???

Your going to have to remove and install the axle multiple times until you get it right....

It's called "ratchet".  How does that replace freecoasters?

They are already used on trials bikes and tandems:

I like it. At least as much as I like the original Nankai's....although I enjoy working on them...does that make me weird??

I agree, I'd much rather work on a Nankai than some of the sealed ones.  It's just like the coasters we've been working on for decades.

I'm still not sold on the stop inside the new version though.  I'm a little afraid of whether it will come loose and how hard it may be to adjust without a complete teardown.

The major difference from the Nankai is that adjustable stopper but as mentioned it looks like a pain to constantly take the hub apart until you find your desired gap... and then pray that the nut doesn't come loose...

I wonder  if a bizhouse non-stop axle is compatible with this hub...

I was thinking that in theory, as long as the internal lock nut doesn't come loose, you could still adjust the slack externally using the cones on both sides.

You'd just be shifting the whole axle slightly side to side.

Now that I think about it, that may be a really good upgrade.

Looks like it has the normal slack washer...they just did away with the big brake "nugget" and replaced it with the lock-nutted stopper thing.
