Hows it ride?  Looks really cool.
All things in life are temporary. If going well...enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong don’t worry, they can't last long either.

Cheers, I know it looks very different as I have had allot of comments by everyday people.

But I can say in all the years of riding bikes, never has anything felt as different as this, in a positive way.
While the ergonomics give a feeling of no frame tubes .... it has some other key features that no one in BMX has ever really looked into which means it handles in way that is an absolute pleasure to ride.

It was a real risk trying something like this but its absolutely paid off.

Malo @ PIR has done an amazing job working on this project with me, and what he has built is something truly magical.

Looks really weird, but I mean that in a good way. :) But doesn't the absence of triangles compromise the strength?

I mean no disrespect, but to me no matter how technically sound the ride is, it has lost the aesthetics of a BMX ride... it looks like one of those geeky foldable bikes.

Did you and Malo design this just to push certain boundaries and prove it can be done, or otherwise, what is the purpose of this weird looking ride???

I think I should try and answer this one first.
I originally went to Malo with the plans, the front end was all drawn ... but the rear end was open for debate and input as I didnt know to what degree was possible in regards to custom rear tubing.

I do remember emailing Malo and saying with intrepidation, with me saying that I know it looks like a scooter ... but I want to go with this idea. Luckily enough Malo was up for the project and we pass ideas back and forth for at least a good month regarding the rear end until I think its safe to say we were both happy with the idea.

Now the negative :
I did think to myself, if people saw this and it ever led to a change in flatland frames in terms of shape - would I be blamed by the purists as it is a radical shape change in terms of aesthetics. With some loving it, and others hating it. If I am completely honest I didn't expect such a positive response by so many. But have been delighted by those who have.

The positive :
Space - that is the biggest pro aspect ... its very hard to get caught up with with so much free space.
Its truly a delight to ride (regardless if you like the look or not) as its so free in regards ergonomics. And its not like just a little space, I mean its everywhere imaginable.

Handling - Another sub lying thought had been this idea to experiment with the distribution of material to create a better balanced frame. And without wanting to brag, not only was this achieved but it has blown the lid of conventional design IMHO as it handles in such a way that the experience is truly magical. And I suppose this is the basic scientific part ... As by reducing the lines of of material and putting them more in line with direct paths, it creates a different balance by distribution. It also helps keep the frame stiff and nimble.

I agree that its kinda lost the "BMX" look/feel. But from reading all you've said about it throughout building it to in this thread describing how it rides. It sounds like it functions how it should & its fun to ride. I myself think its awesome! :)

I need to see a video of this thing being ridden. It's already up on a few random websites where people nerd about bikes and I can't say I blame them. What is the overall weight?
