Flat+ Street Frames
« on: July 20, 2012, 10:44:26 AM »
My frame is dead. So, I need a new one.

Anyone know a good street frame that is also good for flatland?
I don't really go crazy on street, but I like to do 180s, 360s, bunny hop, bar spins etc. Maybe once in a while try something off some stairs( By stairs I mean possible 180s, fakie bunny hops) I get around with my bike so I like to bunny hop up curbs.
I had a black eye killorado and the bottom tube snapped off the headtube from doing a bunny hop over some dumb little curb thing so I want to get a stronger frame that suits me in both riding.
Anyone got some suggestions?? Maybe like low or mid profile ones.
Suddenly, another wild chess game appeared.

Flybikes Tierra in 19.6" or Mankind Justice if you dont mind having a 20,5" TT.
Both have 13,25" CS length so they should be nice for both kinds of riding...

I would recommend the flybikes frame, I have one in 21" on my street setup

S&M, also Deco Succubus and Hoffman Strowler are proven to be strong frames.

The Fly tierra is a good frame but I don't think the recent version comes in 19.8 size.

This frame doesn't exist. I've tried. Unless you're atleast 6'2, 6'3 all street frames will feel awkward for serious flatland. Some people get by on those 19.6, 20.0 frames doing just hikers and hang fives but if you're trying to do spinning tricks or anything like that, it just doesn't work out. I've been looking for this solution forever and just finally said f*ck it two bikes.

I would not recommend the Tango for street.

While mine is probably the best made frame I've owned in terms of craftsmanship, and it certainly isn't flexible, you just cannot have a sub 4lb frame that will take stair sets regularly.

actually the intrikat frame will do that.
The frame is supertherm cr-mo double butted and it had the same thickness as their street frames.
Also the double butted tubes can take some punishment and i believe the s&m is maybe the best quality company in the industry of bmx together with odyssey and solid.
i am waiting for my 19.5 intrikat to arrive with the low bb and low stand over so the top tube will be just and inch higher than a waltz frame.
About the spining tricks at the backwheel at least it depends from the cs length.
