Freecoasters
Bryansyodaddy:
Okay guys so I am done with my KHE reverse. It feels as if throughout the year that I've had it its barely worked as it should and every month it's a new problem. I'm thinking of buying a Nankai from Flatlandfuel; either the Bamboo or technolite. I keep reading that the technolite is the one that lasts everyone practically forever so I was wondering if the Bamboo is the same but with a bigger axle.
Anyone know if the Bamboo is as good as everyone says it is and why or which one or some other freecoaster I should get? I ride flatland and a little bit of street(no grinds) and I have 14mm dropouts on my frame. Thanks.

I was about to post in your other thread and you may just need to lock up your non-drive side. But those KHE coasters are disposable compared to Nankai's. I've had 4 Nankai's, not because they broke but because the first was in a really bad hurricane, the second I bought used and had a least 5-6 years on it before I got it, the 3 was just given to me and the 4th was a 14mm Bamboo which I personally think is better then the 3/8 because of the resistor spring, it's placement in the coaster internals, and of course the 14mm size. So, yes, I think the Bamboo rocks. The only other coaster I'm interested in is the new S&M/Taska.

I second this. I just got my 2nd bambo wheel from flatfuel right when I needed it--for Voodoo Jam. Let me tell you, for durability, weight, and smoothness this hub can't be beat.
Bryansyodaddy:
So I was looking at my freecoaster again, the only thing that isn't new is the clutch and hubshell so I'm guessing it's one of these that's causing the problem. I'm hoping it's the clutch and not the shell cus Idk where I would even buy a new hub shell and that'd be too much trouble.
Idk if it shows too well but does the clutch look worn out? I'm not really sure about it I can see the knurls on it but when I run my finger across it, it's almost flush so maybe that's why?
Then I think there is also something wrong with the hub shell?? The 3rd picture, that weird little piece goes in to the shell(you can see where on the 5th picture(sorry for bad explaining)) then I noticed when I put the whole hub together, that part moves back and forth a couple millimeters as the clutch pulls in and out. Is it supposed to do that? The hub runs a thin washer between that and the bearing , maybe only needs more washers?

I can't really tell from your pictures if you clutch or shell are truly worn out, I guess that could be your problem... After your wheel is mounted on your bike, can you move your top hat washer, like in the beginning of this video?
