Robpossible and FlatSTYLE | Nankai How To
« on: June 15, 2012, 01:06:18 AM »

Jm Mckay and I put this Nankai how to video together and are hoping it can calm some troubled coasters out there and get you back rolling in all directions. We also included a closed captioning option for all the foreign riders, as well as the hearing impaired. Hope y'all like it, Robby

Thanks Tod, there was a lot of planning for this and Jm did an awesome job of filming, even after a long road trip from TX to LA then a 26 mile long trip over a bridge to my house. Pure dedication that guy has.

Video: Nankai Freecoaster maintenance by Robpossible
« Reply #4 on: June 15, 2012, 09:59:56 AM »
Maybe you remember Robert's fantastic video on how to maintain the KHE Geisha light. Now the saga continues with a Nankai maintenance video. Check out the corresponding forum topic as well.

"This is a rebuild and maintenance guide for Nankai 3/8" and 14mm freecoasters. There is a lot of info on the web about these hubs and I hope this video will help complete some of the holes some people have in their info about them. Here are some of the references I have used over the years to help me understand these hubs. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!"

Thanks Killah. I thought releasing here would allow it more viewers but I will surely post it up in there for longevity sake in a few. Thanks again!

Thanks for the props fellas! Jm did all the real work, I just rebuilt a few coasters, then let the pictures do the talking.
@Dax I think not locking up the non drive side is the single most overlooked thing in rebuilding coasters. It generally is the problem people are having whether they believe it or not. Even in the geisha if it is not real tight, it will generate a little noise when you pedal forward after a back pedal. After it gets real loose, it causes more problems then just noise(intermittent slack, wobble, ext.) . I heard a lot of coasters at Voodoo this year.

I just found the opposite of how you should rebuild a Nankai, so I thought I should post that up too, lol

nice job Rob!
Okay here is my problem the build goes fine until I tighten the cone nuts for the driver.
the 1st issues I have when I crank it down tight then back it off the driver doesn't freecoast at all, it turns the wheel.
then the when I do it loose the driver spins freely but will not spin the wheel or in-gage the wheel.
So what do I need to replace the clutch or the driver or both?
the driver is a 3/32 9 tooth.
