de-anodized

I want to take off the anodized color of some pegs, somebody did it? Which chemical recommend guys? Tips??

I have heard that toilet cleaner should work because it contains lye, but I have not tried it. I would try it outside, maybe some gases are produced...

Oven cleaner is what you want. Put it in a thick plastic bag with the pegs. Give it half hour or so, scrub with a wire brush. Works pretty well.

I have done it before on a stem.
You can use wd-40 and steel wool,
then buff them somehow(bench grinder,drill pad,elbow grease).
The steel wool is less abrasive than wire brush,
I think it will scratch less.
