Brakes are bad here, only use them for a firehydrant ride out and not too soon! If you are having issues over rotating and ending up in a track stand position try rolling a little faster. It's easier to balance with a little bit of speed.

You can practice the ride out position too, just step into it with a push off the ground and roll around until you are comfortable. Switch both your hands on the bars before moving your weight to the left foot and moving right foot to the pedal. That helps you work on one thing at a time. You could also just step into this riding position while you're riding the bike forward step over with your left foot, then right. All this will help you get comfortable walking around the bike. Try it switch now!

Im a beginner, i learnt how to fork glide last week, im still perfecting it but my bike is brakeless, i found going really slow worked for me best, i start with left leg on the peg, pushing my foot onto the peg right before i spin and use both arms to kind push into the ground and twist myself helped, i had a few people show me different things but i found this easiest. Kinda hard to explain ..
Its one of my favourite things to do at the moment, im still learning all the basics

well there are a few things to mention. the first thing i would like to say is that i watched the how-to and i would strongly recommend not using the seat and learn to roll the trick somewhat well w both hands on bars before mastering the ride in and ride out perfectly. i find that many beginners use the seat as a crutch way too much. its kind of like ppl using the front brake on hang fives and whiplashes when they dont need to. all bad habits are harder to break later if you get too used to them. when you learn fork glides going in a circle is a good route to go but another thing that helps a lot of ppl is finding a mellow hill to roll. a trick that would help you learn them is peg wheelies. i know they arent really related but its a great beginner trick to help build balance and you just set it down and you dont need a ride out. any trick that you are trying to learn where you have one foot on peg and one foot off you usually wanna try to hang your free foot slightly lower that the peg that its next to. good luck with the fork glide. once you get a few it will open lots of doors but it takes work. what side do you ride in on? and do you keep that front on the peg it starts on or do you switch and scuff with that same foot??
while practicing, i have never liked using the seat..i feel unbalanced. i am still learning the basics after all. and as for the peg wheelies, i am also currently learning those. its getting there gradually, but i still cant hold a perfect balance. i pick up and drop immediately. practice makes perfect right

I remember learning these bastards !!!  When you spin it the most important thing for me was at about 1/2-3/4 of the spin lightly hit the brake to stop the bike from sliding out from under you and you face planting  ;D
^This is what I do. But I also wonder if it is a crutch. I'm pretty sure it can be done brakeless, and I have done it, but inconsistent, and things can go wrong quickly. I try and use as little brake as possible, and letting the brake go before the full 180 keeps momentum going.

Maybe I should work more on doing this brakeless, but I have it pretty solid if I grab the brake.

I really don't get the seat grab thing at all. Seems really awkward to me. I want to lift the back end and roll just on the front wheel from a fork glide, but I cannot see how to grab the seat to keep it from swinging. But that is another topic.
i am trying to spin into the fork glide brakeless since i broke my front brake. i guess it'll make it a bit more difficult for me, but i'll just have to stick with what i have

i feel as though i should post a few vids of fork glide ride outs. im gonna try to work on that when i have time because i think it would help some riders. i know once some of you guys start riding out of fork glides some other tricks will come along very quickly. one thing that helped me while learning to ride out switching my hands and feet is that i would ride slowly and lean my bike all the way down until my pegs touched and then stepped off the bike. it really helped me gain confidence to teach my body how to lean to get the timing right to switch my hands and turn around.

I'm still lost on the ride out. I was attempting this last night and no success. But I totally missed that I needed to switch my hands. So as I would reach for the back peg, I was turning the bars, and it went ugly fast.

Do I need to switch my hand before I even start to reach with my foot? Just looking for some guidance.

The spin into a fork glide is getting better without brakes, but it is also easier with less air in the tires too. I found I was low and pumped them back up, and that made things faster and harder.

I know more practice.

i think that would be beneficial to many beginners :)
i cant seem to find any videos on youtube, or anywhere thats shows a how-to fork glide(just because every vid i find shows the fork glide being done quickly, and i cant grasp the technique they use)...so a step by step kinda video would be cool. where it shows exact foot position, how to spin into/ride out, and balance techniques (slowing down the vid would help a bunch as well)

I do them slow like at the end of this link :
Linked@dchittyspot

it's just a swivel to ride out.
Or I kick the tire and lose my head and have a hard stop, but still a swivel out.
